An Ancient Alien Astronaut visitor from across the galaxy. At the time this race visited earth (30,000 BC) they had been inter-planetary for only a century or so. The unified efforts of several governments from different planets within their solar system had graduated to inter stellar travel just recently- thus their trip to earth. Their suits enable a sort of "power steering" for the body, and are physically grown with the use of self reticulating nano robots. Every part of the suit is removable for easy repair and fairly simple compatibility. The suit has several frequency resonators, so that it can phase shift in and out of the physical realms. It is equipped with everything from atmosphere emulators to holo projectors. Their technology can bend magnetic fields, and can distort gravity. The suit is powered by harnessing micro wormholes, and bending magnetic fields within the distortion range. It can keep a biological being in stasis for 930 years.

The Chosen One

Hey guys, been super busy juggling a few things and haven't had much time for personal projects. After a little break in April I'm planning to make some time for some personal work.

The first image is the Chosen One I created last month for LevynLight. I wanted to fix/refine some areas(mainly hand, feet, and robe) but had to move on.

I have also included a robe which the chosen one gives you after completing a quest and the construct that protect the hidden society.

Hey guys, this is me TZ! Whats going on everybody? Where is all the artwork at, haha just kidding. But no, seriously. Thanks for letting me join your little group, its nice to have a reason to make some art, since I don't have a steady art job. Hopefully that will change soon though, I am planning on making some awesome art now that I have a new wacom :)

Anyways, here is the first piece I did on my new tool. Coincidently it is based on the last theme you guys had here, the crashed space ship. When I learned of the theme, right away I had an idea for an epic huge ark ship, something that carried data banks of life to repopulate new planets. So after a bunch of doodles and a good final sketch to work on, I did a gray scale first then added colour. I think it turned out pretty good, but there is a lot of detail you can't really see. The piece is 20x10 inches. So I'm posting a detail here, and if you go to my website you can see the whole thing.

Hey guys, here's another Ancient Alien sketch I made recently, seeing as how my last one was incomplete. I sketched out half the head with all the tattoos ( pencil,ink on paper ) and then flipped it in PS then I added some texture and a mysterious gradient. The spiky outline around the head is supposed to represent light/psychic energy. Crits and comment welcome.

Here's the finished version, no need to keep the old one on here. Anyway I sprayed some white ink on for a snowy effect, after cleaning my scanner I brought it into PS and overlaid a subtle filter and threw on a gradient. The tattoos got really annoying after a while and I just gave up on the full body suit.

We are starting something new on the Hybrid Collective blog.

The idea is that we all create an image based on the same topic and with a new topic every two or three weeks. We will all take turns picking a topic. It is not mandatory to participate in every challenge, however it is good to try and push yourself to keep up the habit of production. The finished quality is up to you and how much time you have on your hands, anything from sketches to final illustrations is good. Feel free to go into more detail with content such as posting a write up of your piece or the process images you took to create it.

I started this guy with only the intention that I wanted him to have heroic proportions. Sometimes I like to work without many intentions regarding the design and the final product. This way It does not put pressure on the design you and you can really experiment and surprise yourself.

A few days before I painted this I had watched an episode of River Monsters about sting rays and sharks. This can be clearly seen in the spike appendages on the back and the shape of the head. I also see some influences from Avatar and District 9, almost a mish-mash of the two.

Working concepts for an ongoing project about different types of civilizations. These drawings are being re-done in order to give each planet a more unique appearence. I Had fun coloring them and experimenting with line, fill, and gradients, but settled on a single color per planet scheme for now.

The Cyborg of Sargon

This is known as a Lamassu, a celestial being from Mesopotamian mythology. In art, they were depicted as hybrids ~ winged bulls or lions with the head of a human male and considered househould protective spirits of the common Babylonian people. Later during the Babylonian period they became the protectors of kings and statues of the bull-men were often used as gatekeepers. Usually sculpted with five legs to show balance from all angles.

More experimentation with Sculptris. The creature was designed on the fly without any pre-planning. When I tried to pose and light the model I noticed tons flaws. I think this 3d stuff is going to help me consider a lot more when I'm designing in 2d format.

After about an hour of sculpting, I imported the .obj file into Photoshop to test out the 3d capabilities, took a while to get a hang of things. It's amazing how you can light and pose the model within photoshop.

Here is a head I sculpted in a relatively new program, Sculptris. It is very similar to Z-brush, and they are both owned by Pixologic. The interface in Sculptris is extremely user friendly and simple. Best of all, it's free!

Atmosphere Emulation Suit

A sketch I made at work the other day. Super imposed it on one of my thermal paper experiment textures. It was fun to widdle away at the componentry. The idea that I came up with for the character was, that he was this guy who got left behind at some deep-space, junkyard, space station. He concocted this suit by throwing together different pieces of gadgetry that he collected from spaceships, robots, and passing satellites. It can emulate over 300 atmosphere types, including that of earth's.

Here we go again, building on the previous portrait format, I created this ancient astronaut head in 2 sizes. I had to re-scale these in photoshop for presentation purposes, but the middle one is actually bigger, postcard size ( 4 by 6 ), which I think I am going to stick to from now on. The ones on the sides are the same size as the previous skulls I posted, which are 3 by 5.

Here are some variations done traditionally with speedball block printing ink on different surfaces. The middle one was achieved simple by applying yellow over the entire card first and allowing it to dry before pressing the print, although there is no press involved here, just a lino cut block. I will be doing more of these soon with text hopefully, so stay tuned!
